A lay-on lid has a specially shaped rim so that it lies perfectly on the pan. Due to its weight, it sits tightly on the pot, without forming an airtight seal. When necessary, it can also be quickly set aside. Small holes in the Silit lay-on lids prevent an unwanted vacuum forming inside the pan. These holes ensure the controlled release of steam: no more rattling, no more boiling water splashing onto the hob.
